Disaster can strike at any time, be that earthquakes, floods, strong winds or a global pandemic. Having a plan in place and an emergency grab and go kit is one thing we can all do to prepare, but getting the community on the same page well before anything occurs is a great option too.

For example, if disaster struck right now, do you know what to do, who to speak to and where to go?

It’s difficult enough for most of us to plan for our own families and workplaces, so getting the community ready, together and well prepared is key. But, how do you do that?

Take the time to develop and understand a Community Response Plan – and that’s where we come in.

Get along to Cattle Creek Hall at 7pm on Tuesday 22 February and hear from Waimate District Council’s civil defence management team and appointed community representatives as they run through everything you need to know should the never happens, happen.

There really is no better time to get prepared – spread the word and we’ll see you there!
