Call 111 when you need an emergency response from Police, Fire or Ambulance.

The operator will ask you which service you need and connect you to the right service. If you can't decide if it's a real emergency and you're still worried, call 111 and ask us. We'll help you work out what to do.

Timaru Hospital Emergency Department
The emergency department should be used in an emergency for critical or life-threatening situations. (eg Heavy bleeding, broken bones, burns, chest pain, trouble breathing) If you cannot travel yourself, you should dial 111 for an ambulance.
TACT Team - 0800 277 997
The Triage, Assessment, Crisis & Treatment Team is available 24 hours per day, 7 days a week to provide advice, assessment and/or treatment to people in an acute phase of a psychiatric illness.

To access the after-hours service call 03 689 7676. You will get an automated message indicating you’ve reached the after-hours service. This is run by Homecare Medical in Auckland who employ registered nurses to triage your needs and advise you on further care.
Waimate Medical Centre - 689 8015
Outside of our normal hours of business urgent medical assistance is available by telephoning 689 8016. Please note that after hours service does incur a higher fee than services during normal working hours
