Giving made easy

A familiar face is ready to help South Canterbury give. Well known local identity Kirsty Burnett has
started at the Aoraki Foundation in a new role to make giving to your local community an easy
process.

A trend towards giving and an ambitious goal to fund $1 million per year to community
organisations and charities by 2030 has meant that the role of Donor and Community Engagement
Manager was created.

Aoraki Foundation Chief Executive, Richard Spackman, says ‘This new role is a massive step forward, having the two of us out and about in the community means we can reach all the wonderful townships that make up South Canterbury. We will be better placed to support our existing donors and help new donors achieve their philanthropic goals.’

Kirsty said she is excited about this new role and feels that it is a real opportunity to not only connect with people’, but to also be able to help so many local organisations and charities. Describing herself as a passionate advocate for all things South Canterbury, Kirsty gets herself involved in as much of the community as she can with performing, emceeing or just helping out at events and fundraisers.

Kirsty say’s she is really enjoying meeting with donors, as well as talking to local organisations about funding opportunities., she says there is a lot of potential to grow the current funds so we can really make an impact in all of the communities around South Canterbury.

The Aoraki Foundation are looking for more community minded people to share in this vision and to become donors, so if you want to know more about how it all works then get in touch with Kirsty, she is regularly in Geraldine and is always up for a chat.

The Aoraki Foundation was established in 2009 and is one of 17 Community Foundations in New Zealand. Their primary focus is to provide a simple and long lasting way for people to help charitable causes in the South Canterbury Community now and in the future.
